Rancho Rio Montana
Rancho Rio Montana is a working cattle ranch located between Playa Nosara and Playa Ostional. This 1300 acre ranch is home to some 450 head of cattle and 40 horses, along with howler monkeys, white faced monkeys, pizotes, just to name a few of its residents. . Perched on a hilltop, surrounded by it all with 180 degree views, sits Hacienda la Trinidad.
Completed 2008, this 4 bedroom/ 4 ½ bath sinlge story home was designed to take full advantage of the exquisite views. Incorporating eco-friendly concepts and using as many local materials and craftsmen possible, the Hacienda has an incredible open-air feel. Every room in Hacienda la Trinidad has a view of the Pacific on the horizon and inland views of the mango stands and rice fields.
This home has a green roof, with real vegetation, solar lights, solar hot water, and glass free design. The wood shutters were almost all made form local woods (Pochote, Guanacaste, Cedar, Teak) and carved by very talented craftsmen from the surrounding villages. As were some of the beautiful furniture pieces found through out the Hacienda.
The 4 bedrooms, each with its own bath, have been decorated superbly by local artists to really give this home a Costa Rican flair. Tasteful and warm, each room opens onto the beautifully landscaped deck surrounding the bi-level infinity pool that is simply perfect. There is no better place to relax and enjoy the sunset than here. Possibly in all of Costa Rican.
The master suite, with a king sized bed, has its own private deck as well as a hand crafted stone tub. Again, the eye for detail in the design of this room is astounding.
And there is also a guesthouse-Casita Rosa. Built for maybe the not so eco-friendly guest, this 1 bedroom/1 bath home with its glass windows and A/C, has incredible 360 degree views of the inland hills and virgin jungle. And the hammock on the deck is the perfect place for an afternoon siesta.
Hacienda La Trinidad offers a unique Costa Rican holiday. The only way to really truly appreciate this ranch is on horseback. Guests are welcome to ride whenever they choose with one of the guides. You can visit the “ghost town” of Trinidad or the waterfall that runs almost year round. Watch the cowboys move the cattle. You may even want to join in on one of the cattle drives. All while taking in the incredible ocean views that surround you.
